Anthony Edwards’ Knee Does Not Look Right (Again)
The Minnesota Timberwolves are 3-0 after a 117-94 blowout of the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night at Target Center. They have won all three games by an average of 23.3 points with a franchise record +70 point differential. That’s twice the previous high (+33 in 2013-14).
Anthony Edwards led the way again Sunday, with 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting in just 28 minutes. LaMelo Ball added 15 points and eight assists. The Wolves were +33 in his 17 minutes. Now, Minnesota is off to Cleveland for the second half of a back-to-back against the Cavaliers.

Vibes are great in the Minnesota locker room, but one major concern looms after their latest victory. The aforementioned Edwards is not 100%. There were a couple of occasions on Sunday where Ant was dealing with knee pain, and on Monday, the Wolves listed him as questionable for tonight’s game in Cleveland.
Anthony Edwards hurt his knee again?
We first saw him wince and reach for his right knee after this second-quarter dunk in transition, though he stopped short of actually grabbing it.
I’m worried about Anthony Edwards health this season 😬 https://t.co/FIU0b1vwWO

Jack Borman (Locked On Timberwolves) noted Edwards was holding the knee in the corner on the next possession. If it was bothering him then, what happened in the third quarter only made the problem worse.

With 11:20 remaining in the third, Ant collided with Immanuel Quickley during a Timberwolves fast break, and appeared to injure his knee again. In both instances, it was Edwards’ right knee that was giving him pain.

Anthony Edwards missed six regular-season games in March with soreness and inflammation in his right knee, then sat 11 of the final 14 regular-season games with more inflammation.
He finished with 61 games played, four short of the 65 needed for postseason awards. When the postseason started up, Ant was listed as questionable for Game 2 at Denver with right knee injury maintenance.
Then in Game 4 of the first round, Edwards hyperextended his left knee against the Denver Nuggets and was diagnosed with a bone bruise. He still returned for Game 1 against the San Antonio Spurs on a minutes restriction, in what almost felt like a medical miracle.

Anthony Edwards injury history adds to MN Timberwolves worry
He wasn’t the same guy the rest of the playoffs, though. Still, Edwards elected not to have surgery on either knee this offseason, and now his right knee is giving him problems.
After the game, Jon Krawczynski (The Athletic) reported that Ant was not made available to reporters because he was in the training room and had to catch the team flight after.
Edwards played under 28 minutes but was clutching at his right knee several times in the game. He was unavailable for comment after the game because he was receiving treatment. His outlook for the game on Monday in Cleveland was unknown.
There did not appear to be any concern in the locker room after the game, only vibes. Ball’s arrival has ignited a joy in these Wolves that has rarely been topped around here.

The Timberwolves made it official on Monday, listing Edwards as questionable for tonight’s 6 p.m. tip in Cleveland with right knee injury maintenance.

Here is Minnesota Timberwolves president of basketball operations Tim Connelly addressing the media during the offseason and answering questions on whether or not Anthony Edwards was going to have knee surgery.
Tim Connelly on whether Anthony Edwards or Naz Reid will need surgery this offseason On Edwards”nah I think we’ll put some bengay on it and it’s good. No, I think honestly being around Rudy has been a real blessing for Ant. Ants work ethic has always been a 20, but it’s when you’re young you don’t do anything preventive, right? You think you’ll be young forever and the amount of high pressure basketball that Anthony’s seen, there’s going to be bumps and bruises. So I think the work ethic is always been elite and I think how he takes care of it preventatively takes care of his body is elite. So no, no surgery just some rest don’t touch a ball for a while and I think he’ll come back like he does every year, a better version of himself.”On Reid”eh, he’s not going to pitch on Tuesday night but, nah I’ll allude to the O’toole winning treatment staff but at this point I think we’re looking pretty good relative to any real surgical interventions for any of our guy”

At the start of camp, Edwards said he took about two months off to let his knee heal, and that it was still sore after that before treatment got him right.
After a 3-0 start, the most important thing is getting their superstar right for the season. Through three games, Anthony Edwards is averaging 28.7 points per game and shooting 43.3% from three, including a 45-point opener in Miami.
